DANI capillary columns (columns) are made of capillaries, that is, tubes of very small diameter. In gas chromatography, sizes 0.53 mm, 0.32 mm, 0.25 mm and 0.1 mm are common. The main structural element of chromatographs are columns—tubes filled with a stationary phase, through which the mobile phase and the test sample move during the analysis. It is in the column that the components of the mixture under study are separated.
The smaller the diameter of the column, the less the blurring of the peaks as a result of diffusion and, accordingly, the higher the efficiency. This reduces the analysis time and improves the separation of components. The Van Deemter curve for small-diameter columns is also more favorable and allows you to vary the velocity of the carrier gas over a wider range without catastrophic loss of efficiency.
